Loop layouts that survive a fault

An addressable Class A loop is wired out and back to the panel, with isolators between sections, so one short or one break never silences the whole floor.

Addressable fire alarm loopA fire alarm control panel at left drives a loop that leaves from loop out, runs past smoke and heat detectors, a manual call point, sounders and an input-output module, and returns to loop in. Short-circuit isolators split the loop so a single fault takes out only one section, and a single open circuit is still reached from both ends.FACPpaneloutinSSHSMCPSSNDSI/OS smoke · H heat · MCP call point · SND sounder · I/O module · ▱ isolator.
