Rippling's New Hyderabad Office Runs on Brivo and Eagle Eye, Deployed by Foxnet
HYDERABAD — Foxnet Securitas has delivered the cloud access control and cloud video surveillance stack for Rippling’s new Hyderabad office, pairing Brivo cloud-native access control with the Eagle Eye Networks Cloud VMS. The deployment gives the company’s security and workplace teams a single browser console for door control and video across the site, mobile credentials in place of printed cards, and an administration model that works as well from a US head office as from the floor in Hyderabad.
Rippling is a fast-scaling, US-headquartered technology company with a growing India footprint. That growth profile — not a preference for any particular brand — drove the architecture. Foxnet scoped, designed, installed and commissioned the system and handled coordination with the building’s base-build services and the client’s IT team.
Why a US-headquartered technology company defaults to cloud-native security in India
There is a consistent pattern in how globally distributed technology companies buy security in India. Three constraints tend to decide the architecture before anyone opens a product datasheet.
- Administrability across time zones. If the person who owns the security programme sits in San Francisco, a system that requires someone at a Hyderabad server rack to add a door group, pull a clip or change a schedule generates tickets instead of resolving them. A browser console removes the time-zone dependency.
- Credential logistics. Card stock is a supply chain — ordered, held, encoded, printed, issued, tracked and recovered, separately in every country. Mobile credentials collapse that into an email or a directory group membership.
- Identity alignment. These companies already run joiner-mover-leaver processes through an identity provider. They expect physical access to behave the same way — provisioned from a directory, revoked when the account is disabled, auditable in the same terms. A cloud platform with an API fits that model; a standalone controller with a local database does not.
The same reasoning drives cloud access control decisions at enterprise and fintech sites across India, and it is why Foxnet brought Brivo to the Indian market in the first place.
What actually changes when the badge is a phone
Mobile credentials get discussed as a convenience feature. Operationally, they are a process change, and the differences show up in places that are easy to miss during evaluation.
Day one of an intake stops being a bottleneck. On a card system, a cohort of joiners arriving the same Monday means a queue at reception: photograph, print, encode, assign, log. With credentials issued to a phone, entitlement is granted before anyone arrives and the first badge-in is simply the first tap. Reception goes back to being a welcome desk rather than a card bureau — which is why a proper visitor management workflow pairs naturally with mobile access.
Revocation becomes instant and complete. A card not handed back on the last working day stays live until someone notices. A mobile credential is withdrawn centrally the moment the identity record changes, and the withdrawal is logged — a materially better answer when auditors ask how quickly access is terminated on exit.
Consumables disappear. No printer, no ribbons, no card stock, no reorder cycle, no lost-card replacement queue — a small recurring burden removed from every office. None of this means cards vanish: contractors, visitors and staff without a compatible handset still need a physical option, and readers supporting BLE, NFC and conventional card technologies let a site run both on one infrastructure. Good design keeps the card as the exception, not the default.
One console, many sites — why that matters as the India footprint grows
The strongest structural argument for cloud access control is not any single feature. It is that the marginal cost of administering the second, fifth and tenth site is close to flat. Access levels, schedules, credential formats and reporting are defined once and applied across the estate. A new office joins an existing tenant rather than standing up another server, another database and another set of local conventions that will quietly drift.
The same logic applies to video. Eagle Eye Cloud VMS connects ONVIF-conformant cameras through an on-site bridge, so the cameras remain ordinary IP devices while recording policy, retention, permissions and analytics are managed centrally. Reviewing an incident needs a browser and a permission, not a VPN and a pinned workstation client. That same central layer is what later makes a command and control centre practical rather than aspirational.
Scale here should be read as indicative rather than precise: the Hyderabad site is a commercial office fit-out of the kind common in the city’s technology corridor, with door and camera counts in the range typical for such a space. Foxnet does not publish device counts, headcount or commercial terms for client sites.
Hyderabad specifics: HITEC City fit-outs, landlord base-build and the Telangana fire NOC
A commercial tower fit-out in HITEC City or Gachibowli has its own delivery grammar, and integrators who work only in one metro tend to learn it the expensive way.
The landlord owns more of the stack than tenants expect. Grade-A towers in the corridor typically arrive with base-build lobby turnstiles, a BMS, a fire panel and often a house CCTV system already commissioned by the developer. The tenant system has to interface with that, not replace it — which means agreeing early what the lobby line does — whether the tenant credential is read at the turnstile, whether the tenant maintains a separate floor-level line of defence, and who holds the cardholder record. Documenting that before cabling starts avoids the most common category of rework.
Base-build coordination is a scheduling problem, not a technical one. Riser access, core-drilling windows, ceiling closure dates and the permit-to-work regime sit with the landlord. Containment, structured cabling and network infrastructure and power have to be sequenced against the interior fit-out programme, because a cable pulled after the ceiling grid closes costs several times what it costs before.
Fire NOC is state-administered. Clearance in Telangana is issued by the state fire services department. The technical references — the National Building Code of India 2016 Part 4 and IS 2189 — are national, but submission process, documentation expectations and inspection practice are local, so occupancy dates should be planned against the state process rather than an assumption imported from another city.
Cloud video, data residency and the DPDP question
Cloud VMS still attracts a legitimate objection in Indian procurement: where does the footage live, and who can reach it. That question is part of the design work, not an obstacle to it. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, CCTV footage and visitor records are personal data, bringing purpose limitation, retention limits and data-principal rights into scope. Cloud platforms make retention enforcement easier, because policy is configured centrally and applied uniformly rather than depending on whatever disk happens to sit at each site.
The CERT-In directions of 2022 are also relevant where cloud and IT systems are involved — notably 180-day log retention and the six-hour incident reporting window. Buyers should ask vendors about hosting region, data flows, sub-processors, encryption and log availability, in writing, at evaluation stage rather than after go-live. These questions have good answers for most commercial-office cases and harder answers in regulated BFSI environments; pretending otherwise helps nobody. The same discipline applies to surveillance and monitoring design generally, cloud or on-premise.
