Foxnet Securitas Partners with Genetec to Bring Unified Enterprise Security to India

Delhi NCR, 18 November 2025 — Foxnet Securitas Pvt. Ltd. has become a channel partner for Genetec, the Montreal-headquartered maker of the Security Center unified security platform. The partnership brings Genetec's Omnicast video management and Synergis access control modules — both running on the same platform rather than as separately integrated products — to Foxnet's enterprise customers across fintech and BFSI, healthcare, manufacturing, government and large campuses.

For Foxnet, one of India's fastest growing system integrators, the addition fills a specific gap. The company already delivers cloud-first security to customers who want browser-managed, multi-site estates. What it lacked was a strong on-premise and hybrid platform for enterprises that need everything on their own infrastructure, at scale, under a single operational picture.

Why unification, not integration, is the actual argument

Walk into the control room of a typical large Indian enterprise and you will find two systems from two vendors: a video management system from one manufacturer, an access control system from another, and between them an SDK-based bridge written at commissioning that nobody has touched since. The operator has two screens and two logins, and correlates by hand — note the time on the access system, hunt for it on the video system, hope the clocks agree.

Unification means the video and the door are not two systems being made to talk. They are one system with two capabilities. In practice that changes three concrete things:

  • A badge-in becomes one record, not two. When a cardholder presents a credential at a door, the event and the video from the camera covering that door are the same object. Clicking the access event plays the footage — no timestamp arithmetic, no cross-referencing two databases with two clocks.
  • An alarm pulls its own evidence. A door-forced or door-held-open condition on a Synergis-controlled door automatically surfaces the relevant camera view, alongside the cardholder record if a credential was involved. The operator sees the event and the picture in one action rather than deciding which camera to open.
  • One audit trail answers one question. An auditor asking "who entered the server room in the last ninety days and what does the footage show" queries one system once. In a two-vendor estate that is two exports, a spreadsheet and a manual reconciliation.

None of this is exotic. It removes a seam — and the seam is where investigation delays and audit failures accumulate. Enterprises evaluating surveillance and monitoring and access control as separate procurements should at least price the unified option before committing to two.

Where this sits in Foxnet's portfolio — and where it does not

Foxnet already works with cloud platforms: Brivo for cloud-native access control with mobile credentials and browser-based multi-site management, and Eagle Eye Networks for true-cloud video surveillance. Those serve a genuinely different buyer, and it would be dishonest to present Genetec as a replacement.

The cloud tier suits estates that are wide and shallow: many small sites, opened and closed quickly, with no local IT presence and no appetite for a server per location — retail chains, quick-commerce dark stores, clinics, branch networks. The on-premise and hybrid tier suits estates that are narrow and deep: a bank's data centre, a plant, a hospital campus, a government facility, where the customer owns the infrastructure and data residency is not negotiable.

Data residency deserves an honest mention. It remains one of the most common and legitimate objections in Indian enterprise procurement, particularly in BFSI, and it is not a misconception to be educated away. Where policy requires footage and credential data to stay on infrastructure the customer controls, an on-premise unified platform is the correct answer, and a hybrid deployment extends that to remote sites without moving the core off-premise.

Open architecture matters more in India than the brochure suggests

Very few Indian enterprise security projects are greenfield. The typical site has cameras from three or four manufacturers accumulated over a decade of tactical purchases, analogue-over-coax survivors behind encoders, and door hardware from whoever the previous integrator preferred. A platform that demands a matched camera line demands a rip-and-replace, and that capital case usually collapses.

Genetec Security Center is built on an open architecture and supports ONVIF alongside a broad device ecosystem, so a large share of an existing camera estate can typically be brought onto the new platform and kept in service. That turns a replacement project into a migration, with capital going to the platform, the recording infrastructure and the cameras that genuinely need replacing. The same platform also carries AutoVu for ANPR and Genetec Clearance for digital evidence management.

Genetec sells through certified channel partners and has a distribution presence in India. Omdia has recognised it as a fast-growing access control software provider.

What an enterprise migration actually involves

Buyers are shown the end state, rarely the path. It has four unglamorous stages, and underestimating any is how migrations slip:

  • Audit the existing estate. Every camera identified by make, model, firmware, ONVIF conformance and network path; every recorder assessed for retention and health. The survey routinely finds cameras nobody knew had failed and recorders retaining far less than policy assumes.
  • Map the door hardware. Controllers, reader protocol (OSDP versus legacy Wiegand), lock type and fail-safe or fail-secure behaviour, request-to-exit devices, door position switches and the fire interface on every egress door. Access migrations are constrained by panel and reader reality more than by software.
  • Phase the cutover. A live site does not go dark for a weekend. Realistic sequencing runs the new platform in parallel through a pilot zone, migrates cardholder data and access rules in tranches, and retains the outgoing archive until its retention obligation expires.
  • Retrain the operators. The unified model removes steps experienced operators have turned into habit, and habits outlast software. Budget for retraining, revised standard operating procedures and updated escalation trees — the stage most often cut, and the one that decides whether the investment is realised. Where the estate is consolidated, this overlaps with command and control centre design.

The DPDP Act 2023 angle

India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 treats CCTV footage, visitor records and credential data as personal data and gives data principals rights over it, including the right to seek information about processing. It also brings purpose limitation and retention discipline into scope for systems historically configured around whatever storage was available.

A split estate makes those obligations awkward to discharge: if access records live in one database and footage in another, answering a data-principal request means assembling it from two systems and hoping nothing was missed. A unified platform with one audit trail makes the same request a defined query — what was recorded, when, under which retention rule, and who viewed or exported it. That does not make an organisation compliant on its own; governance and retention decisions remain the customer's.
